DO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO SWIM TO LEARN TO DIVE?

To participate in our diving program, you must be able to swim continuously for 200 meters using any swimming style of your choice, as well as perform a 10-minute treading water exercise.

DO I NEED A DIVE MEDICAL TO LEARN TO DIVE?

To assess your suitability for diving, please click on the waiver link to access a Medical Statement declaration. Answer the questions about your medical history with a “YES” or “NO” and send the completed form back to Perth Scuba. If you can answer “NO” to all the questions, you will not be required to undergo a dive medical exam.

WILL I NEED MY OWN TRANSPORT WHILE I LEARN TO DIVE?

Transportation is a requirement for the duration of your course, and you need to arrange for it yourself. However, if you do not have your own transport, Blue View Diving can offer limited transport to and from Adelaide during the course, but you will need to book it at least 5 days before your course start date. You will still need to arrange for transportation to and from Adelaide on non-boat days, but transport will be provided to meet at the boat on boat days. Please note that transport availability is limited and we will inform you if we cannot provide it.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO LEARN TO DIVE?

In South Australia, the minimum age requirement to begin scuba diving lessons is 14 years old.

DO I GET BOAT DIVES WHEN I LEARN TO DIVE?

As part of the PADI Open Water Diver Course at Blue View, boat dives may be included.

HOW LONG WILL THE PADI ELEARNING THEORY TAKE TO COMPLETE?

The PADI Open Water eLearning program takes roughly 8 hours to finish. To participate in the first day of your course, all sections and the final exam must be completed and the completed exam printout brought along.

WILL MY DIVE CERTIFICATION BE RECOGNISED WORLDWIDE?

PADI is the most widely recognized scuba diving certification agency globally. PADI Open Water certified divers can dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters anywhere in the world, while PADI Advanced Open Water certified divers can dive to a maximum depth of 30 meters anywhere in the world. HOW LONG IS MY PADI OPEN WATER DIVER CERTIFICATION VALID?

Your certification lasts for life, but it’s recommended to dive at least every 6 months to maintain your skills. If it’s been over a year since your last dive, taking a Scuba Refresher course is recommended. Find more information on refresher options by visiting the PADI website or contact us.

DO YOU HAVE MULTILINGUAL INSTRUCTORS?

Blue View Diving has instructors who speak English, Chinese, and Korean, offering dive courses in multiple languages. To request a multilingual course, contact us, and for English-only courses, continue browsing our website.

IS SCUBA DIVING SAFE?

Diving is a very safe recreational activity with strict standards and procedures in place to prioritize safety during both the learning process and as a recreational scuba diver.

CAN I DIVE IF I NEED GLASSES OR CONTACT LENSES?

Wearing contact lenses while diving is permitted, but it’s important to keep your eyes closed if water enters your mask. Consider bringing a backup pair of contacts to pool and ocean dives during your course. If you wear glasses, prescription lenses can be fitted into certain masks. Contact Blue View Diving staff to learn which masks are suitable for prescription lenses.

DO I NEED TO BUY MY DIVE EQUIPMENT TO LEARN TO DIVE?

Learning to dive is a lifelong skill that Blue View Diving’s courses provide, including rental equipment. However, owning your own equipment is recommended for flexible diving anytime and anywhere, as well as ensuring equipment fit and suits your specific diving needs.

DO I GET DISCOUNTS IF I BUY MY DIVE EQUIPMENT WHEN I LEARN TO DIVE?

Blue View Diving offers special equipment deals for students enrolled in their courses. These deals are available from the moment a deposit is paid for the course.

HOW LONG UNTIL I RECEIVE MY DIVE CERTIFICATION CARD?

On the last day of the course, you will receive a temporary certification card valid for 3 months, which serves as proof of certification. Your permanent certification card can be picked up from Blue View Diving approximately 2 weeks after your certification date (allow 4 weeks during Christmas period). Note: the permanent certification card will not be mailed to you. If you can’t pick up the card in person, contact Blue View Diving for alternative arrangements.

LOST YOUR PADI CARD AND NEED A REPLACEMENT?

Need to update photo, find missing PADI certification card, or update contact information? Blue View Diving can arrange a new card in-store within 2 weeks by bringing ID (if replacing a lost card), having a digital photo taken, and submitting the replacement card application online. The process takes around 10 minutes and involves a small fee. You can also opt for a PADI eCard, an electronic version of the certification card accessible through the PADI App. Contact Blue View Diving or order replacement card online now.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET SICK BEFORE MY DIVE COURSE?

HOW DO I GET A JOB IN THE DIVE INDUSTRY?

To work in the dive industry, you must attain at least PADI Divemaster certification. Blue View Diving offers professional level training, including PADI Divemaster, Open Water Scuba Instructor, and higher at their PADI Career Development Centre in Adelaide. HOW SOON CAN I FLY AFTER DIVING?

To fly after diving, a 12-hour minimum pre-flight surface interval is recommended for single dives within no-decompression limits. For repetitive or multi-day dives or dives with decompression stops, a minimum 18-hour pre-flight surface interval is recommended.

HOW SOON CAN I DIVE AFTER FLYING?

It’s recommended to allow time to hydrate and acclimate to a new time zone after a long flight as dehydration and alcohol consumption can increase the risk of decompression illness in diving. Allow yourself to rest and hydrate before diving.
